What a fabulous evening we all enjoyed last Motzei Shabbat despite the cold! As always there was great food, great company, great musical entertainment and a fantastic community ruach but also a really insightful address from Jo Grose, the United Synagogue’s [not so new] Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
After a beautiful musical Havdalah from Baruch Sholom and Anna and making hamotzi, we tucked in to a mouth-watering, milky buffet of salmon skewers, goujons and vegetarian treats with a wide array of salads.
After dinner we heard from Jo Grose about the ‘broad church’ that is the United Synagogue and the amazing range of functions it presides over covering all facets of Jewish Life. Its multifarious functions range from rabbi recruitment to technology, marriages to buildings, youth (Tribe) to Burial Society and education to kashrut and Beth Din. She said their aim is quite simply to get more Jews doing more Jewish things more of the time!
This wonderful evening ended with a poignant Hatikvah and everyone’s thoughts with family and friends in Eretz Yisroel.
