Monday is washing day but…

….Tu B’Shevat is the day we focus on our natural environment

January’s Eco Tip by Ingrid Segal

What better a day then to talk about the most mundane of subjects that none of us can avoid – laundry.

Have you ever thought how bad for the planet washing our clothes could be? Unless you have a washboard you take down to your local stream (which you would be polluting), treating and pumping clean water to your tap in itself has quite a significant carbon footprint. Then there’s the energy required to heat the water and power your washing machine (let’s not even get started with tumble drying)!

And then there’s the carbon impact of manufacturing and transporting the detergent, getting it home from the shops and ultimately disposing of its packaging materials.

I may not be the first to the party but I have discovered laundry sheets!

NO MORE BOTTLES OR LARGE CARTONS!

Save the environment by using Magic Leaves

I did not believe that this one small Magic Leaf provided in a small package with less mess, less bulk, could get my laundry so beautifully clean.  Easy to use, easy to store and helping to save the environment.  From 20 degrees wash with quick dissolving leaves, which disappear with the detergent!

SMALLER PRODUCTS REDUCES TRANSPORT EMISSIONS – GO SAVE THE PLANET!!!!!

NB THERE ARE OTHER MAKES TOO BUT THIS IS THE ONE I TRIED

Here’s a review of these and some others from the Sun newspaper…
